Jake had football evaluations this past Tuesday and in true Jake fashion, he is now the KING OF FOOTBALL and ready to go pro. Confidence is not an issue with this boy. The girls tagged along complaining the entire time about how hot it was. I'm sure this is a sign of how things will go once the actual games start. I think JD has been anxiously waiting for the day his boy could play ball...and the time has come. I'm not sure which one of them is more excited.
First let me say VBS = Exhaustion....and I wasn't even working it this year! But, geez...it wore me out! :) The kids had a good time and I had a good time talking with actual adults while I was waiting each night. I even managed an adult dinner with Chad, Rachel, Steven, and Donna and a pedicure with Rachel another night...big fun!
VBS was Sunday through Thursday and Friday JD came into town. Chad and Rachel invited us to the lake and we had such a good time. Bret was able to join us as well. I could write a ton of stuff here, but the pictures say it all. Jake is now known as the 'Master Tuber' He could not be thrown! Taylor managed to wakeboard for the first time and got up with a little help from Uncle Bret! I was so proud of her! I thought maybe I would give it a try as well and pretty much only managed to drag myself through the water. The funny part about it all is Taylor yelling from the boat on what I was doing wrong. Wakeboard lessons from a 7 year old! HA! I had a hard time moving my upper body for about 2 days afterwards between my attempts at wakeboarding and my not so pretty tube riding. I'm not near as young as I think I am!
This past weekend we were in Little Rock for my mom who had surgery Thursday. For those of you who didn't know she had found a lump in her breast which of course scared us all to death since her history includes pancreatic cancer. She ended up having a breast biopsy which then turned into a lumpectomy. I'm happy to report that she is doing fine and the tests came back all clear! You couldn't ask for better blessings than that! One good thing that did come out of it all was lots of family time and pictures...my 2 favorite things!
I realized after my last post that I didn't give you a clear picture of the girls new rockin haircuts. They have been begging me for about a month to get their long hair cut off and I just wasn't into it...but as Taylor so often does, she reminded me that my hair was short and she really wanted her hair shorter. So...off to the hairdresser we went. We ended up with stacked bobs that are just about as cute as a haircut can get. I think it aged the girls by a few years...they are getting so big!
While eating at US Pizza we got a little snap happy and took a few shots. Not the best technique, but they were just fun family pictures.Lu of course was being her crazy self in most of the shots.
We were also able to visit my Uncle Ed and Aunt Pete. I didn't realize how much I really missed them until we were over there. I have tons of memories of them and it was fun to see them interact with my kids. Uncle Ed's house was our 'country' house. Tons of room to run around, tractors, cows, lots of dogs & cats. Big fun for a kid! At their house was where I realized I was allergic to cats. My eyes would itch, swell, and tear for hours, but I didn't care...I was playing with those cats! Their daughter (my cousin Trish) had a piano that I was just sure I could play...which I couldn't. But, thinking back about Trish I realized that she was so much older than me, but still took the time to make me feel special and actually acted like she wanted me around. I'll have to make sure and thank her for that next time I see her. She didn't have to be so nice, but I'm so glad she was.
For my birthday we decided to join Rachel and Chad at the lake. The kids were pumped and couldn't wait to get there. Luckily, the lake is only about 30 minutes away, but to them it might as well have been hours away between stopping for gas for the boat and lunch.
Being in a Texas lake is VERY different from the beautiful crystal clear lakes of Arkansas...I missed home that day! Those of you who have seen them both know that there is a huge difference.
As you can see Lulu was dressed for the part. Those of you who know Lulu well, you know that those sunglasses fit her personality to a T!

The end of June went out with a bang! We were excited to host Chase's 11th birthday party. Our backyard held about 35 people and a good time was had by all. Prior to the party Aunt Sissy (aka Rachel) came over and helped me lay a flagstone walkway. Okay...truth be told she did most of the work, I just passed along my idea of what I wanted, pointed at a few things and helped lift rocks...she was the creative genius behind the completely awesome walkway.
Has it really been 2 1/2 months since I posted?? I promise to be better about it and not let that happen again. I'd give you my list of excuses, but I'm sure you've heard them all before! :)
Goodness, after all this time, where do I even begin?? Pardon me if I ramble!
Lulu turned 5 in May and that is truly unbelievable to me! We had a small get together at Aunt Sissy's house. A little bit of hot dogs, cupcakes, and karaoke = good times! Check out little Miss Attitude at her party...
Memorial Day was spent going between our pool and the Davis backyard. Lots of food, fun, and family time. I think the first day the kids spent 9 or 10 hours swimming; they only got out to eat. You would think that this would have worn them out, but it didn't, they were still wound up at midnight!
Around this time, Lulu has was diagnosed with asthma. 3 times a day she had to take a time out for breathing treatments, but you will see it didn't slow her down any! At the end of July we will be going to another specialist to make sure we are on the correct path to making her feel better on a more permanent basis. There is a noticeable difference in her energy level since we have started the treatments. It's nice to see her up and running around with the others.
The kids started the summer off with 2 weeks in Little Rock. Papa and Grandmother held the first annual KIDS CAMP for all the grandkids at their house for a week. They were able to hike, build birdhouses, movies, and go on treasure hunts. Needless to say they had a blast!! The next week they spent at my mom's with JD. Most of their days were spent with Pawpa, filling them with junk food! But, a good time was had by all! I on the other hand was BORED OUT OF MY MIND...2 weeks no kids. What in the world did I do before I had kids?
We've also made our annual summer trip to Six Flags with Uncle Dan, Aunt Sally, Stephanie, and Benjamin. The kids did great and we all had a really good time. I was shocked that Lulu rode as many rides as she did, I just knew it was going to be difficult if she wouldn't ride the 'big kids' rides, but she did awesome!!! The weather wasn't too terribly hot, the crowds weren't too bad, and of course we had to end the day with funnel cakes! We had a really good day.
