Meet the Beene's

I've been thinking about doing a little blog piece on our family. I have readers who know me as just Tracy and not me as Tracy the Mommy. Some have never met my kiddos or JD and boy are they missing out! HA! So, tonight I'm going to start with my daughter Taylor and have a little interview with her. I plan on writing exactly what they say; so this could be fun and possibly a little embarassing. Check in tomorrow for "Part One - Taylor"

World Record....from Little Rock to Texarkana

The kids spent the last week before school started with JD in Arkansas. On their way home the kids began talking about world records. Taylor said she knew a girl who had held her hands up in the air from Little Rock to Texarkana. Jake thought this so sounded doable - and he's always up for a challenge;but wanted to add a little excitement to his record....so he began holding 2 regulation size horseshoes above his head right as they left Little Rock. JD laughed and cheered him on...figured his little arms would get tired and he would give up. But, 30 minutes later, 40 minutes later, one hour later...HE IS STILL HOLDING UP THESE HORSESHOES!!!!! When they arrived in Texarkana to eat dinner, he had been holding these horseshoes for 101 minutes!!! The only reason he stopped was because JD was making him go inside Taco Bell!

We decided that such a worthy accomplishment deserved a world record party. We invited Weezer, Chase, Hannah, and Emma over to help celebrate. Please disregard mommy's terrible cake decorating and concentrate on that smile. He was so proud of himself and so are we!

Better late than never

Due to the absence of my camera, I borrowed Chad and Rachel's for the first day of school. The kids were more than ready and excited about the first day. Lauren has been asking for over a month if it was time. Here are my sweet babies...

Jake was the first to be dropped of. He has a very sweet teacher named Mrs. Suber. She is so soft spoken and always smiling. She's everything you would want your 1st grade teacher to be. Teachers always love Jake..first of all, he's so darn cute and 2nd he's just as sweet as he is good looking. Watch out girls...Heatbreaker in the making!

Next we dropped off Taylor. Her teachers name is Mrs. Jones. She is a sweet lady, but she means business!!!! During orientation, Mrs. Jones bragged on Taylor's reading and said she was one of the top two readers in the class and would be participation in AR program (accelerated reading). I'm so proud of her! 

What you can't see below is that when I was leaving she had already began to color and when I said "bye bug" she literally threw her hand up in the air without even turning around to look at me.  It was her nice way of saying...it's time for you to go Mom!!!!!

 

Next it was time to drop off Lu. The car had no more stopped before she was grabbing her backpack and jumping out the door. Did I mention she was READY??  Mrs. Forrester is her teacher this year and Lu loves her! I received a call from Mrs. Forrester the 2nd day of school and told her this couldn't be good if she was already calling me the 2nd day. but, it was actually nice news. She first wanted to tell me how well Lauren was doing and she also wanted to tell me that Lauren had come to the assistance of a little girl in her class. Apparently, this little girl has been having a tough time and some of the kids weren't being so nice. Lauren has stepped up to help her and make sure the other kids were being nice to her. That of course, makes this mommy very proud of her!  

 

We had a great first day and so far everyone is being FAB-U-LOUS about getting up and getting ready. I'm sure we are going to have a great year and there will be many more stories to come!

Important decisions

Tonight I had an important decision to make. Barack Obama was on David Letterman - a chance to listen and understand his point of view. Problem was, Matthew McConaughey was on Jay Leno...I chose Matthew. Who can resist that accent. I'm convinced he will come to his senses and drop that supermodel like a hot potato and come for me. I'm fairly sure JD will understand. :)

A little lost

Sad news in the Beene house....my camera is gone. Most of you know that I usually don't go anywhere without it so I'm feeling a little lost during those moments where I would normally go grab it. I have a few ideas about what happened to it. I, however, am not the one that lost it. I won't go into detail because I have no proof, but I'm convinced that someone very close to my family that I allowed in my home took it. I'm disappointed, hurt, and still in a bit of disbelief. I'm hoping that it will magically appear, but after 2 weeks of searching the house from top to bottom - it's definitely gone. I've decided not to immediately replace it, because I'm going to save a little more and get what I want..no settling.

For now, Skylar has graciously offered me the old 35mm that started my photography passion.   It's been odd shooting with film again. The guy at Target looked at me like I had lost my mind when I asked where the film was. I made a joke to him after I asked that I was probably the only person in America that was using film. His reply was "yeah, I think so"  That comment only added insult to injury.

So...pictures may be few and far between now that I actually have to have them developed, but more then likely I will be purchasing a very sexy Nikon D80 or D90 for myself for Christmas and you will again be bombarded with pictures. 

Until then I may have to actually write more instead of writing a sentence or two and posting the pictures. :)
